From 1st October 2018 Modality are working collaboratively with all GP Practices across Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven to offer patients increased access to routine appointments with GP's, Nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Modality Extended Access

Family Planning and Well Woman Clinic

All the doctors provide maternity services and are willing to advise on all forms of contraception. Dr's Cox, Richardson, Starford, Buckley, Watson and Sudbury are our female doctors. Our Practice Nurses are also involved in family planning. Arrangements for the fitting of contraceptive coils or implants by can be made with Reception. 

Drs, Cox and Starford also run Well Woman Clinics where they can address any women's health issues.

Sexual Health

Did you know it's not always necessary to see your GP or Nurse Practitioner for many aspects of sexual health, there is a free, confidential service being offered to patient over 16 years old, SH:24. They offer an easy, discreet service. Please click on the link to their website SH:24

Alternatively patients can obtain advice or arrange an appointment at one of the Bradford and Airedale Contraception and Sexual Health Clinics  which are provided by Locala by telephoning 01274 200024.  These clinics run in Keighley, Bingley and Ilkley and include a drop-in clinic (no appointment needed) for young people up to the age of 25 at Keighley Health Centre on Wednesdays 3.30-6.00pm.

If however you would still prefer to see your GP or Nurse Practitioner you can make an appointment with us. We are able to provide confidential advice regarding all aspects of sexual health. as well as screening and treatment for STI's.

Cervical Smears

These are usually done by our Practice Nurses. On request any of the female doctors can also do them. All women are strongly encouraged to attend for regular smears from the age of 25.


Dr Wardleworth runs a musculoskeletal clinic at the surgery and patients with a wide range of joint and muscle problems and injuries can be referred to this service.  This can avoid the longer wait to see a hospital consultant and means that hospital orthopaedic and rheumatology appointments can be prioritised for those in need of hospital-based treatments.  Dr Wardleworth does joint injections during his normal surgeries when required.

babyBaby and Child Health Services

Babies are offered medicals by a Doctor at 8 weeks. The Health Visitors perform examinations at other times. All children are automatically sent appointments for immunisations as recommended by the Department of Health. The latest schedules and information on vaccinations can be obtained by clicking on the "health and lifestyle" link in the right hand menu. 

Chronic Diseases

Our Nursing team runs clinics to provide annual chronic disease reviews for patients with the following conditions:-

  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • High blood pressure
  • Coronary heart disease

Health Checks

Health checks are available on request to any patient who has not been seen for a year and are over 75 years of age or 3 yearly if under 75 years of age.

Health Education and Disease Prevention

Our Nursing team provides the following health promotion activities at the surgery:-

  • chdSmoking cessation service: helping people to quit the habit.
  • Heart health advice and check ups.
  • Weight management support and advice.
  • Travel vaccinations and advice.
  • Child immunisations and advice on childhood illness.
  • Annual flu vaccination clinics.

Mental Health Services

Our patients can access various mental health services, including counselling, self-help cognitive behavioural therapy and the mental health gateway worker, all based at the surgery.  To access any of these speak to one of the doctors.

Drug and Alcohol Counselling

Patients who would like help to deal with a drug or alcohol problem can be referred via their GP or are able to self-refer to services - just ask at reception for an appointment.

Services not covered by the NHS

The NHS does not cover certain services (e.g. HGV Examinations, Insurance Forms, private certificates etc) and a charge must be made for these.  Details can be obtained from Reception.
